Althorp Literary Festival Competition

The Althorp Literary Festival Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th October 2017

The 2017 Althorp Literary Festival will take place on Thursday 5th, Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October at Althorp House in Northamptonshire. We are excited to be working in partnership with the Festival team to offer Best Surprise followers the opportunity to win a pair of one day entrance tickets on a day of their choosing.

Set over four days, the Festival is set to welcome over 40 best-selling authors, opinion leaders, comedians, poets, storytellers, stars of stage and and screen, and household favourites. Over the past thirteen years visitors have been delighted by more than 300 special guests including, Julian Fellowes, Sebastian Faulks, Sophie Dahl, Michael Palin, Darcey Bussell, Julian Clary, Sir Tom Stoppard, Jung Chang, Bill Bryson, Mervyn King, Boris Johnson and Twiggy, and 2017 is set to be the Festival’s biggest year to date.

Still being finalised the diverse and exciting author line up for 2017 already includes business guru Lord Digby-Jones; Clare Balding OBE; cake-maker to the stars Mich Turner; festival favourite The Rev. Richard Coles; best-selling author Kathy Lette; founder of the English Shakespeare Company, Michael Pennington; former BBC breakfast presenter Sian Williams; British perfumer and founder of Jo Malone London and Jo Loves, Jo Malone MBE; Newsnight presenter Evan Davies; authors, historians and TV presenters Dan Jones and Kate Williams; personality and populariser of mathematics Johnny Ball; newspaper columnists and writers A. N. Wilson and Joanna Moorhead; ‘Only Fools andHorses’ John Challis aka Boycie’; first-time children’s author Jess Butterworth and Scottish tennis coach, and mother to World tennis champions Jamie and Andy Murray, Judy Murray.

As part of the 14th Althorp Literary Festival, a Children’s Festival is also being introduced for children aged between 8-12 years old, on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October.

With events staged throughout the tranquil grounds and 500-year-old House, the Festival also plays host to pop-up retail outlets, live music, poetry performances, bird displays and a variety of delicious food and drink vendors. The Althorp Literary Festival will also be the final time the two spectacular 2017 season exhibitions – Diana, Princess of Wales and Walking in Her Shoes can be viewed at Althorp.
