Harrington Aviation Museum

The Carpetbaggers' heritage

The Carpetbagger Aviation Museum is located in the wartime Group Operations Building of the Harrington Airfield, off the Lamport Road south of tHarrington in Northamptonshire.

Exhibits include: Operation Carpetbagger and the secret war carried out by the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) and the American Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in supplying resistance groups in Occupied Europe with weapons, equipment and agents from Harrington and Tempsford airfields during World War 2;

The history of the airfield and the Thor missiles that were at Harrington during the Cold War years;

The role of the Observer Corps from its inception in 1925 through to its stand down in 1991 and other items of similar historical and intrinsical interest.

The Carpetbagger Aviation Museum is open to the public 10am to 5pm at weekends and on Bank Holiday Mondays during the period from the weekend before Easter until the end of October.
