Rushden Transport Museum is housed in the beautifully restored Victorian Midland Railway Station which once formed part of the Wellingborough to Higham Ferrers branch line. It displays an surprising collection of transport related artefacts from the Rushden area, giving visitors a nostalgic glimpse into its past. The station is the base for The Rushden, Higham and Wellingborough Heritage Railway which presently has ½ mile of track. It uses both steam and diesel locomotives operating passenger trains at public events throughout the year, ranging from Cream Teas to Santa Specials. The station is owned by the Rushden Historical Transport Society which runs an award winning bar and organises the Cavalcade of Historical Transport and County Show, which attracts over 25000 visitors to Rushden during the annual 3 day event.
