Archaeology Exhibition - Disoveries from Daventry and Beyond

Piece together the past in a brand new archaeology exhibition at Daventry Museum, opening Saturday 4th May.
Discoveries from Daventry and Beyond unearths the bygone age in new displays featuring local treasures including Roman coins and a medieval jewellery.
Daventry’s early history is seen at Borough Hill; the site has the remains of the Stone Age, followed by Bronze Age barrows and later an Iron Age Hill Fort. It was also home to a Roman Villa or Temple.
New exhibits include Neolithic flints and stone tools, Bronze Age axes and Roman pottery from the Roman Temple and Bonnaventa, a Roman settlement located off the A5, Watling Street.
Other exhibition highlights include artefacts loaned from members of the Northamptonshire Artefact Recovery Club and informative displays by CLASP (Community Landscape Archaeology Survey Project) on recent archaeological developments in the town and surrounding areas.
Children can uncover the past in the museum’s hands-on activity by digging for historical finds and fossils in a sand tray on the museum's Saturday open days.
