The Battle For Deene Park - Sealed Knot

This Spring Bank Holiday, the Sealed Knot bring the sights and sounds of the English Civil Wars to Deene Park, Northamptonshire.
Back in 1643, the ancestral home of the Brudenell family was seized by Parliamentarian forces. They stripped the house of its furniture, paintings and library. Lord Thomas Brudenell, a Royalist supporter, fled to Wales and subsequently ended up in the Tower.

On Sunday 26th and Monday 27th May we’ll be creating the battle to seize Deene Park. This beautiful estate will echo to the sound of musket and cannon fire, the steady beat of the drums, the charge of cavalry and the clash of pike.
Our Living History camp will bring to life both military and civilian life during the 17th century.

Event opens: 12.00 mid-day. The Battle starts at around 2.00pm.

About the Sealed Knot
The Sealed Knot is the oldest re-enactment society in the UK. We are a registered educational charity and the single biggest re-enactment society in Europe which celebrated its 5oth anniversary in 2018.
Back in February 1968 Brigadier Peter Young and a group of friends came up with the idea of forming a period Royalist Army. The idea soon took off and within two years there were more than one thousand members.
With the early addition of the Parliamentary Army and later the Army of Ireland and Scotland, our membership has grown to make us the biggest society in Europe.
The aims of the Society are not to glorify war, but to honour those that died in the many battles of the English Civil Wars, to educate the public about them as well as the lives and times of people of this period.
