26th August 2020

As I sit here writing this recommendation it’s 8pm, the light is fading and autumn is fast approaching.

Autumn is my favourite season, as the trees put on their magnificent show of colour, the hedgerows prepare their winter berry offerings for the birds, and the light grows softer from the lowering sun.

So, with another storm forecast this week, thoughts start to turn away from walking across muddy ploughed fields towards where I can still go for a walk whatever the weather?

Last week one of my followers told me about a change to my Walk 59, a 3.75 mile circular walk from beautiful Kislingbury. Until now part of this walk followed the brilliant Nene Way long distance footpath, but the massive housing development that’s underway in Upton means that this is no longer possible.

What’s great news though is the path now follows the newly updated hard surfaces of the redesigned Upton Country Park. This means it’s always walkable, flat and great for families.

Starting by Kislingbury Mill, the route means you also get to explore some of the village before heading out on an excellent track with the opportunity to spot plenty of wildlife along the Nene and the lakes.

It’s also one of those walks that’s great either before or after some refreshments and Kislingbury has some great choices.

It’s a fabulous, leisurely two-hour stroll, so just click on the following link to get the full details...
