There’s something about Autumn that brings excitement to the air. The orange leaves, the pumpkins, the hearty food, and it means we’re getting that much closer to Christmas. Days out, date nights and friendly get togethers – here’s some of my top picks on what to do in Northamptonshire this Autumn.

Pumpkin Picking
Of course, top of the list must be pumpkin picking. From games on the farm through to cider trucks, it really is a great day out. Some of my recommended places to visit are Saxby’s Cider and Overstone Grange Farm. If you’re taking little ones why not dress them up in Halloween costumes to add even more fun to the day. Then the fun continues at home with the pumpkin carving. Make sure you book tickets to the events to avoid disappointment.Tickets will go on sale from mid-september.

Historic Houses
Visiting historic houses in Autumn is such a wonderful experience. The crisp air, stunning scenery and colourful surroundings bring a sense of tranquility. Some of my favorites are Holdenby House, Castle Ashby, Rockingham Castle and Coton Manor. Events such as food fairs and animal shows make them a brilliant day out for all the family. The little ones will be amazed at how big the houses are! You can book your visiting slot online before you attend.

A special event this autumn is the Spectacle of Light at Boughton House. The illuminated trail will have the whole family in awe of the majestic surroundings. With light inspiring art, food and drink, this one is not to be missed.

Bite Street
If you’re a foodie this is for you! Think freshly cooked food, warming ciders and delicious desserts! Bite Street will be on every other weekend throughout September starting Friday 9 th and will be held at the County Cricket Ground. Each event will have different food vendors so you’ll have a chance to try out LOTS of food! Some of the food to expect includes wood-fired pizza, gyros, loaded fries, Vietnamese street food and bubble waffles.
