Thrapston Plaza Opera

Thrapston Plaza Opera is a small, friendly opera group in East Northants that has been putting on full scale operas over the past 10 years. Founded in 2010 by local music teacher, Vincent Davy, when he retired from full time teaching TPO has put on a full - scale opera sung in English with orchestra every year. The aim has been to present good quality productions involving the local community. Soloists sometimes come from further afield but most of the chorus are locally based. Children are recruited from local schools to take part when required. It started with Carmen in 2011 and is returning to Carmen this year to celebrate 10 years. Other productions have included The Bartered Bride - Smetana, Aida - Verdi, Die Fledermaus – Strauss, Madame Butterfly – Puccini, La Vie Parisienne – Offenbach, Eugene Onegin – Tchaikovsky, La Traviata – Verdi and The Daughter of the Regiment – Donizetti.
