Comfortably surveying its valley, Cranford Hall dates from the second quarter of the 18th century. It was built by the Robinson family who acquired the estate about 1715. It was they who not only built the house but later added its Tuscan portico, the south-facing terrace, and later still the Tudorbethan stable block. They repose in the adjacent Medieval church.
The house today is the home of Sir John and Lady (Gayle) Robinson and their family who have developed both the building and the estate for weddings, corporate hire and accommodation. A more handsome and typically English site would be difficult to imagine with the warm colour of the Weldon stone contrasting with the lush greenness of the parkland with its ancient trees.
